Chicago's Gangs Ruining Chicago: Flush Them Down the Toilet

I spent a lot of time on the L, and walking far from the Loop. That's where the roaches live. Incestuous slime, the Black Gangster Disciples, the Vice Lords, the Latin Kings. Then the Crips, the Jamaicans, and other fecal matter.

Scum.

The thug mentality has reached into the crotches of many young men's minds. A combination of insecurity, poverty-mindset and broken families have confused them what it means to be a man.

I agree. As much as i hate to say this, but in my opinion the answer is in the patriot act. Gangsters are terrorists. They fit the definition to a tee. Lets start going into there homes without warrants and ship them to git-mo without any legal representation. If you are affiliated with any gangs, good by. If you are suspected of being in a gang, good by. The patriot act also gives the government permission to torcher, maim and evin kill to get information. I say lets step aside and let the government do there job. With that, eventually the shit will stop and Chicago can be free of the violence

I have no read the Patiot Act personally, so any opinion I have is at best, a third-hand thing.

Gangsters are in fact terrorists, and also akin to the Mafia.

One major problem involves parents ignoring their kids. They let Junior get caught up in this, then blame the system. The system is messed up, but parents still have a job to do.

What the legal solution is, I don't know, but I think it starts with parents, and it starts with neighbors actually following up on these silly "Take back the night" candlelight vigils. Go ahead, light a candle, but start narcing on the chumps out there thugging around. Turn them in.

gangs are actually driven off of society's isoation and frustration against them...so anything having to do with the police getting involved is a lost cause...gang members become closer by getting in trouble with the law...and become more "special" when the public cries out against them. gangs are just abunch of people looking for love and bonds that they unfortunately could not get from home, and could only find on the streets. they only commit crime because it enfrces their bonding because it must be kept secret...etc. see what im saying? it is unfair to say we should torture them and take their rights away. we're blaming the victim here. i don't know what the solution is, but being mroe violent than gangs are is not the way to solve the problem.

Gangs are exactly as you say, largely just a bunch of kids looking for love. Society has not failed them; their parents have. Society bends over backwards to reach out -- in schools, through churches, through secular organizations. The kids who end up in jail as adults can still get GEDs and even college degrees.

Once the kid is 18, and is still pulling the gang crap, it is not the family which failed him, but himself.

As for what the police should do? I don't know. Reverting to the thug mentality, as Chicago cops are famous for recently, is not it, but a warm hug isn't enough either.

I've visited a lot of jails and a lot of inmates and saw that the cycle stays a broken wheel until one inmate decides, "I'll raise my boy right, I'll get right with his mom, and I'll see to it he goes to college."
